It has also been recognised as one of the best romantic restaurants in KL. Be prepared to step into a zone with no distraction as all your electronic devices are needed to be kept in the locker. Can I see the menu?
A: We serve “Secret Menu”. All you need to do is to let us know your food restrictions due to allergies/religion/health reasons and so on, and we will make the alterations if necessary.
Do you serve vegetarian foods?
A: Yes, we do. Simply let us know whether you are a vegetarian/vegan/pescetarian, and we would modify the menu accordingly.
What do you serve?
A: We serve international cuisine and creepy-crawlies are off the menu!
Is “Dining in The Dark KL” Halal?
A: We are not certified Halal. But we are Muslim-friendly. That means we are a pork free restaurant and we ensure that all the products used are halal. However, alcoholic drinks are being served based on order by the diner.
This is my return visit, will I be having the same food?
A: Our “Secret Menu” changes on a quarterly basis. If you are returning with a different friend or group soon after, you could check with us about the menu status (who knows, your last visit was the last day of the previous menu?). This is also one of the reasons why it is essential for us to get as many details from all of you while taking down your reservation.
How do we eat in the dark?
A: Our guide will guide you on where are the utensils located on the table. Meanwhile, Be creative! Do not underestimate yourself, you will eventually find out how and settle down with the method you find most comfortable.
How long will I be in the dark?
A: Our standard dining duration is 90 minutes but if you feel it’s too short, then we would encourage you to choose the 9pm slot as it is our last slot of the day!
Can the staff see us in the dark?
A: No, no one sees anyone in the dark dining area. Moreover, our guides serving your table are either totally blind or visually impaired and most of them will not be able to see you even in normal circumstances.
How dark is “dark”?
A: Darker than you could imagine it. Come and find out for yourselves 🙂
Can we take photos while in the dark?
A: It is very, very, very dark. We mean it. And any light source is not allowed. Mobile phones, watches, cameras and any other gadgets that may produce light are kept in the lockers outside the dining area. We would appreciate everyone to abide by this essential rule as each and every one’s experience counts.
Why do we have to surrender our mobile phones? Can’t we just silence them and keep them in our pockets?
A: Well, this is a concept restaurant, and we want all of you to relish the experience that you deserve, not to mention that you have paid for it. We really recommend our guests to detach themselves from their worldly affairs and simply enjoy the meal and the fellowship with your dinner companion(s).
I am pregnant, can I dine here safely?
A: Definitely! We are not serving any exotic food or any creepy-crawly. In fact, you will even get a peek at what your baby is looking at: total darkness 😛
Tell me more about security inside the room.
A: Customer’s safety is our top priority, therefore, the room is equipped with infrared cameras to ensure welfare and safety. Recordings are only watched in any case of security violation.
Do I need to make reservation or can I walk-in?
A: As places are being taken up rapidly, we highly encourage making your reservation in advance to avoid any disappointments, especially if you have special dietary needs or you are planning a celebration. We do want to have you over for dinner and enjoy your evening!
Will I be sharing table with strangers?
A: No, you won’t be sharing tables with strangers, unless you are on a blind date. We do our best to make sure that everyone will get their own comfortable space. However, you may get neighbours sometimes. If you do, don’t be shy to talk to them as they might turn out to be your new best friend!
Tell me about the dress code.
A: To provide a more comfortable environment, we strictly enforce a dress code as a condition to enter Dining In The Dark. We highly recommend anything smart to semi formal. We wouldn’t recommend shorts, singlets and slippers, athletic wear as well as caps and hoodies as they’re not suitable for the dining area.
Where can I park my car?
A: Valet service will be available on Changkat street. For indoor parking, you may park at Hotel Soleil, less than 3 minutes walking distance away. For outdoor parking, open car park next to Zion Club or opposite ParkRoyal hotel.
Can I bring my child?
A: As the dinner will be conducted in a pitch dark room, we recommend only children aged 12 and above inside.
Are there a minimum/maximum number of people for reservation?
A: We do have a lot of couples, family, friends and corporate bookings throughout the year. Maximum sit-down capacity is 60pax. Perfect restaurant for romantic dating, purpose and team building. Looking forward to your arrival!
